If you know a skunk is in its skunks den and they really are inside the den at the time a trap is set and you do do not allow them to exit by going around the trap you can actually expect to capture a skunk in your skunk cage trap.  This is called a positive trapping  set.

If you have a problem with skunks scavenging we recommend that you simply remove the food sources that they are trying to scavenge.  We use specially prepared baits and lures and also know skunk diets  change from Spring to Summer to Fall to Winter.  Skunks  are predators and omnivores they will eat most anything like dead decaying matter, a nest full of bird nestlings, eat any bird nests they find on the ground, they will dig into the grass or earth and search for grubs, field mice, shrews, beetle larvae, voles, moles and more.

Skunks love to eat honey bees, honey beehives and most any insect population. They will eat earthworms, corn, berries, nuts, seeds, amphibians and reptiles . They will eat most any dog, cat or pet food and even most household rubbish and waste.

Skunk Remedy : Removing The Skunk Smell

First of all, Soaking in tomato juice or tomato  sauce is well known to remove the smell of a skunk odor. However tomato juice by itself it does not work. For dogs or pets you need to mix a quart of hydrogen peroxide with 1/4 cup baking soda and a few drops of liquid soap. Apply directly to fur and allow to set a few minutes before rinsing.

For a house or other structure, spray bleach or vinegar over the effected area and rinse.
